Hydraulic and Hydrological Study of 7 Bridges in Maputo Province

ANE (National Road Administration) awarded to BETAR the preliminary design of seven bridges over Maputo, Umbeluzi, Tembe, Changalane, Cele, Fúti and Mahubo rivers, within the rehabilitation projects of the roads Catembe-Ponta do Ouro and Bela Vista-Boane.

CONSULTEC was sub-contracted to make the hydrology and hydraulic study of the seven locations, to determine the height of the structures to pass the 100 year flood, using statistical methods, empirical methods, comparison with neighbouring river basins and using satelite images combined with flood marks and information from people resident in the areas. Several software like Civil 3D, ARCGIS, HEC-RAS and HEC-GeoRAS were used.
